The Bull Who Loved Swimming
Barnaby was not like other bulls. Most bulls loved to charge and stomp and show how strong they were. But Barnaby? Barnaby loved swimming.
Every morning, while the other bulls practiced their mighty moos, Barnaby would sneak down to the sparkling pond behind Farmer McGregor's barn. The water was cool and magical, filled with tiny silver fish that danced like rainbows.
One sunny day, Barnaby was floating on his back, watching fluffy white clouds drift across the sky like cotton candy dreams. Suddenly, he heard a rustle in the tall grass. His ears perked up. Someone was watching!
"Come out," Barnaby said gently. "I promise I won't hurt you."
A small nose peeked through the daisies. Then two bright eyes. It was Squeaky, the tiniest mouse on the farm.
"I... I was just..." Squeaky stammered.
"Were you spying on me?" Barnaby asked with a kind smile.
Squeaky's face turned pink. "Yes. But only because I wanted to learn! I've always dreamed of swimming, but I'm too small. The water seems so big and scary."
Barnaby's heart felt warm like fresh-baked bread. He stood up slowly and lowered his massive head until his golden eyes met Squeaky's tiny ones.
"Everyone starts small," Barnaby said softly. "Even I was once a little calf who was afraid of the water. But my mother taught me that courage doesn't mean you're not scared. Courage means trying anyway."
Barnaby let Squeaky climb onto his broad back. Very carefully, the big bull waded into the pond. Squeaky squealed with delight as the water sparkled around them.
"I'm doing it! I'm swimming!" Squeaky cheered.
From that day on, the bull and the mouse became best friends. Squeaky learned to swim all by herself, and she taught Barnaby that even the smallest friends can have the biggest hearts.
And sometimes, late at night, Farmer McGregor would peek out his window and see the most magical sight: a gentle bull and a brave mouse, swimming together under the starlight, both perfectly, wonderfully themselves.
