The Bull Who Loved Swimming

Timmy had a secret. His best friend wasn't another kid at school. It was Barnaby, a big gentle bull who lived on his grandfather's farm. Most bulls spent their days sleeping in the shade or chewing grass. But not Barnaby.

Every summer afternoon, when the sun grew hot and the crickets began their chirping song, Barnaby would trot toward the old swimming hole behind the pasture. Timmy would follow, skipping along the dusty path.

"Come on, Barnaby!" Timmy would laugh, splashing into the cool water. The bull would wade in too, his massive body creating gentle waves. Barnaby loved swimming more than anything.

One magical evening, as golden light painted the sky, Barnaby swam deeper than usual. Timmy dove beneath the surface and gasped. There, shimmering in the underwater cave, was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen.

It was a sphinx, but not like the ones in books. This sphinx had soft fur the color of sunset, and instead of lion paws, she had fins that sparkled like diamonds. Her wings were folded gracefully against her sides.

"I've been waiting for you," she said, her voice sounding like bubbles rising in water. "I am Cleo, guardian of the Secret Waters."

Timmy's eyes widened. "You're real!"

Cleo smiled. "Magic is real for those who believe. Your bull friend has been visiting me for years. He's the only one who never feared my riddles."

That afternoon, Cleo taught Timmy something wonderful: true friends come in all shapes and sizes. A bull could love swimming. A sphinx could live underwater. And a small boy could have the biggest adventures.

"Remember," Cleo whispered as Timmy and Barnaby swam home under the first stars, "the world is full of magic if you're brave enough to look for it."

Timmy patted Barnaby's wet fur. "We'll come back tomorrow, friend."

The bull lowed happily, already dreaming of their next swim with their magical friend beneath the waterfalls.
