The Bull Who Loved Stars
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Rain drummed against the roof as she dug through dusty boxes. Then something golden caught her eye.
It was a small pyramid, no bigger than her hand, with strange symbols that seemed to shimmer like morning sunlight. Lily turned it over, and suddenly the attic door creaked open.
A massive bull stood there, but he wasn't scary at all. His fur was the color of autumn leaves, and his eyes shone like gentle lanterns. Tiny stars floated around his horns, glowing softly.
"You found my pyramid," the bull said, his voice warm like honey. "I am Barnaby, and I've been waiting for a friend."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "A talking bull? And this pyramid belongs to you?"
Barnaby nodded. "Long ago, an Egyptian princess gave me this pyramid as a gift. It has magic — it only appears to children with kind hearts."
He lowered his head so Lily could pet his soft nose. "Would you like to see where the stars come from?"
"Yes!" Lily climbed onto Barnaby's back. Suddenly they were soaring through clouds, past mountains topped with snow, until they reached a valley where stars were born.
Tiny points of light floated up from a crystal stream. Barnaby explained, "Every time someone makes a true friend, a new star is born here. The pyramid helps me find those friendships."
Lily thought about her school. Some kids seemed lonely. "Can I help make more stars?"
Barnaby smiled. "You already are. By being kind, by listening, by sharing — that's how stars are made. True friendship isn't about having the most toys or being the loudest. It's about caring."
They flew back as the sun set. Barnaby touched the pyramid, and it shimmered one last time before fading into sparkles.
"I'll always be your friend, Lily," Barnaby whispered. "Whenever you feel lonely, just look at the stars."
That night, Lily saw a new star twinkling overhead. She smiled, knowing that somewhere, another friend was being made, and another star was being born.
