The Bull Who Loved Rainbows
In a tiny village where the sun painted the sky different colors each morning, there lived a curious girl named Mei. Every day, she explored her grandmother's magical garden, where plants grew in wonderful ways.
One sunny morning, Mei discovered something extraordinary. Behind the biggest papaya tree stood a magnificent bull with golden horns that sparkled like diamonds. Mei wanted to run away—everyone knew bulls could be scary—but something made her stay.
The bull gently lowered his massive head and sniffed the papaya in Mei's hand. Instead of being fierce, his brown eyes twinkled with kindness. With surprising care, he ate the fruit and let out a happy sigh.
"You like papaya?" Mei whispered. The bull nodded, and she could have sworn he smiled!
Every day after that, Mei brought her new friend treats. But not just papayas. She brought bright green spinach leaves from the garden, plump tomatoes, and sweet mangoes. The bull loved them all! He especially loved when she made him salad with papaya chunks and spinach mixed together.
The other children couldn't believe it when Mei showed them her gentle giant friend. "But bulls are scary!" they insisted.
"Not this one," Mei said, patting his velvety nose. "Barnaby loves fruits and vegetables. He's the friendliest bull in the whole world."
One day, a terrible storm came. The winds howled, and rain pounded the garden. Mei worried about the papaya tree and spinach patch. But Barnaby knew what to do. He used his strong body to shield the delicate plants, standing like a brave guard through the long night.
When morning came, the garden was safe. The papaya tree still stood tall, and the spinach leaves were green and happy. Mei hugged Barnaby's neck, and the bull nuzzled her back.
"You're not just a bull," she whispered. "You're a guardian. A friend. A hero."
From that day on, whenever anyone in the village met Barnaby, they learned something important: things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes, the biggest surprises come in the largest packages, and friendship can grow anywhere—even in a garden between a girl, a papaya tree, some spinach, and a very special bull named Barnaby who loved rainbows and salad just as much as he loved his best friend Mei.
