The Bull Who Loved Padel
Lily's new iphone buzzed with a mysterious message: 'Come to the old pool at sunset.' But whose phone was this?
Running through the meadow, Lily spotted something impossible — a massive brown bull standing by the swimming pool, holding a padel racket!
'Hello!' the bull said kindly. 'I'm Barnaby. Care to play?'
Lily's eyes went wide. 'You can talk?'
'Only when I'm playing padel,' Barnaby winked. 'It's a magical game, you see.'
The pool shimmered with golden light as Barnaby tossed her a racket. They played the most wonderful game — the bull's gentle swings sent balls bouncing across the water's surface like skipping stones.
'My friends will never believe this!' Lily laughed, serving the ball.
'That's the secret,' Barnaby said, his wise brown eyes twinkling. 'Magic stays with those who believe in it.'
They played until the stars appeared, when Barnaby revealed the truth: 'Every sunset, I wait for someone brave enough to play with a bull. You're the first in a hundred years!'
Lily felt proud. 'I wasn't scared. Well, maybe a little.'
'That's what courage is,' the bull nodded. 'Being scared but doing it anyway.'
As the moon rose over the enchanted pool, Barnaby handed Lily a golden padel ball. 'Keep this, and you'll always remember: friendship comes in all shapes and sizes.'
Running home with the magical ball glowing in her pocket, Lily checked her iphone. The mysterious message had disappeared, replaced by one word: 'Believe.'
And she did, forever.
