The Bull Who Loved Magic

Lily discovered the secret behind Old Miller's barn on a sunny afternoon. Tucked between weeping willows was a crystal-clear pool she'd never seen before. The water shimmered like liquid diamonds.

"Hello there, little one," a deep voice rumbled softly.

Lily gasped. A massive bull with fur the color of storm clouds and horns that curled like crescent moons stood beside her. But he wasn't scary—his eyes were kind and gentle.

"I'm Barnaby," the bull said. "And I've been waiting for someone like you."

"Waiting? For me?" Lily's eyes widened.

Barnaby nodded. "This pool is magic. Every full moon, it grants one wish to someone pure of heart. But there's a catch—you must keep running around it three times without stopping, while thinking of your wish."

Lily's heart raced. "What's your wish, Barnaby?"

The bull sighed. "I wish to become small enough to play with children instead of frightening them. Being big and strong isn't as wonderful as it sounds."

Lily thought hard. "I know! Let's run together!" She grabbed his hoof. "We'll wish for something that helps both of us!"

Around the magical pool they went, running beneath the growing moonlight. Lily's wish formed in her mind: *I wish everyone could see the true heart inside, no matter how big or small they appear.*

The water began to glow. Golden light swirled around them, warm and tingling.

When the light faded, Lily gasped. Barnaby was still big—but now his fur sparkled with tiny stars, and his kind eyes shone even brighter.

"You didn't change," Lily whispered.

"Neither did you," Barnaby smiled. "But look around."

Village children were gathering, eyes wide with wonder instead of fear. They petted Barnaby's starry coat and laughed as he gently lowered his head to let them ride on his back.

"The magic worked," Barnaby said. "Now they see me. Really see me."

Lily beamed. Sometimes the best magic isn't changing who you are—it's helping others see the beauty that was always there.

And every full moon after that, you could find Lily and Barnaby running together around the sparkling pool, surrounded by laughing children, under a sky full of friendly stars.
