The Bull Who Loved Magic
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm, especially the old stone well at the edge of the pasture. Grandma said the well water was magical – it could make anything grow better, even things that seemed gone forever.
One afternoon, Lily was taking pictures of flowers with her iPhone when she tripped near a giant brown bull. But instead of being scary, the bull just blinked his big gentle eyes and nudged her softly toward the well.
"Hello, Mr. Bull," Lily whispered, petting his velvety nose.
The bull lowered his massive head and looked at the well, then back at her. It was like he wanted her to see something special.
Lily peeked over the stone edge. Down in the water, she saw something amazing – plants that looked brown and dead were suddenly turning green again! Tiny green shoots poked through the soil. Grandma had told her about special flowers called "zombie flowers" that looked like they'd gone to sleep forever, but the magic water could wake them up.
The bull nudged Lily again. This time he wanted her to try something. He pointed his nose toward a patch of dried-up brown stems near the well. Lily carefully sprinkled some water on them using an old bucket.
Sparkles danced across the water like tiny stars. One by one, the brown stems stretched and yawned. Buds appeared, then burst into purple flowers that glowed softly in the twilight.
"They're alive!" Lily clapped her hands. The bull let out a happy puff of air, almost like laughter.
That evening, Lily sat by the bull, watching the magical garden glow. She didn't even think about her iPhone. The bull rested his massive head beside her, and they both watched the zombie flowers sway in the breeze, more beautiful than anything she'd ever seen on a screen.
Sometimes, Lily thought, the most wonderful magic doesn't come from technology. It comes from water, and earth, and friends with big gentle hearts.
