The Bull Who Loved Green Dreams
Lily was always running through the meadow behind her house, her bare feet dancing over clover and dandelions. She knew every path, every hiding spot, and every secret the tall grass held.
One afternoon, while munching on a spinach sandwich her grandmother had packed, she spotted something unusual. Old Barnaby—the gentle bull who lived at Miller's Farm—was standing perfectly still near the garden fence. His big brown eyes were fixed on the butterfly garden, watching intently.
"What are you doing?" Lily whispered, creeping closer.
Barnaby's soft ear twitched. "I'm a spy," he rumbled, and to Lily's surprise, his voice sounded like warm honey and crickets. "I spy on the secrets of the garden."
Lily giggled. "Bulls don't spy!"
"This one does." Barnaby lowered his massive head. "Every morning, the sunflowers tell me which way the wind will blow. The butterflies report on the best flowers. And the spinach—" His eyes twinkled. "The spinach shares dreams of growing tall and green."
Lily looked at her sandwich with new wonder. "Spinach has dreams?"
"Everything dreams, little one." Barnaby nuzzled her hand. "The trick is listening."
From that day on, Lily became Barnaby's spy partner. Together they learned the language of clouds, the songs of earthworms, and the gossip of hummingbirds. The meadow wasn't just a place to run anymore—it was a world of magic and friendship.
And every afternoon, Lily brought extra spinach sandwiches, because even the best spies need their green dreams to grow strong.
