The Bull Who Loved Baseball
Timmy was the worst baseball player on the Thunderbolts team. Every practice ended with him missing the easiest catches.
"I'll never be good enough," he whispered, running behind the old equipment shed to hide his tears.
That's when he discovered the secret pool. It shimmered with a magical blue glow, and floating in the middle was a tiny bull statue on a baseball pedestal.
Timmy reached for it, and suddenly the statue grew into a real bull - but this bull wore a baseball cap and held a mitt!
"I'm Barnaby," said the bull kindly. "I was the best player in the Magical League, but I was cursed because I forgot that baseball isn't about being perfect."
Timmy's eyes widened. "You mean it's not about being the best?"
Barnaby laughed. "Of course not! It's about having fun, supporting your team, and never giving up. Would you like to practice together?"
Every day that summer, Timmy and Barnaby played by the magical pool. Barnaby taught Timmy how to catch with confidence, and Timmy taught the bull that mistakes are just opportunities to learn.
The day of the big game arrived. Timmy stepped up to the plate, heart pounding. He remembered Barnaby's words: "See the ball, be the ball, trust yourself."
CRACK! The ball sailed through the air - farther than anyone had ever hit it!
"RUN!" shouted Barnaby, watching from behind the fence where only Timmy could see him.
Timmy rounded the bases, grinning wider with every step. The Thunderbolts won, and Timmy was the hero. But that night, he returned to the pool.
"Thank you, Barnaby!" he cried, but the pool had returned to ordinary water. The statue was gone.
All that remained was a baseball cap on the ground - Barnaby's cap - and a note: "The magic was inside you all along."
Timmy wore that cap to every game, knowing that somewhere, his bull friend was smiling down from the clouds, still playing baseball among the stars.
