The Bull Who Loved Baseball

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every Saturday, he practiced hitting until the sun painted the sky orange. But one day, his ball sailed over the fence into the old farmer's field—the one with the grumpy bull.

"I'll never see my lucky ball again," Leo sighed, peeking through the wooden fence. That's when he saw something amazing. The massive black bull was trotting around the field, but he wasn't chasing Leo's ball. He was chasing something else—floating, glowing lights that looked like tiny stars.

"Hey!" Leo called before he could stop himself.

The bull froze. Then, to Leo's shock, the bull walked over and nudged the baseball toward him with his giant nose.

"You can understand me?" Leo whispered.

The bull nodded slowly. His name was Barnaby, and he explained through gentle nods that the floating lights were magical spirits from the secret swimming hole behind the old oak tree. But Barnaby couldn't reach them anymore because he'd grown too big.

"The lights carry special magic—the kind that acts like a vitamin for dreams," Leo realized. "Without them, you'll stop believing in magic."

Barnaby looked so sad that Leo's heart squeezed. "I have an idea!"

Leo ran to his garage and grabbed his oldest baseball bat. "If I hit the lights toward you, can you catch them?"

For weeks, Leo and Barnaby practiced. Leo would hit the glowing lights with perfect baseball swings, and Barnaby would leap—yes, leap!—to catch them in his mouth. Each light made Barnaby's eyes shine brighter.

One evening, the most beautiful blue light floated past. Leo swung with all his might. Crack! The light soared toward Barnaby, who jumped higher than any bull should be able to jump. He caught it!

Suddenly, Barnaby began to glow. The magical light had given him something more powerful than any vitamin—courage to be himself. He did a happy skip, then a little hop, then a full bouncy dance across the field.

"You're not just a bull," Leo laughed. "You're a baseball bull!"

From that day on, Leo never played alone. Barnaby became his teammate, his friend, and the keeper of his dreams. And Leo learned that the best magic happens when you help someone believe in themselves—even if they happen to be a 500-pound bull who loves catching glowing lights with a baseball swing.
