The Bull Who Loved Baseball

Mia loved baseball more than anything. But every time she stepped up to the plate, her hands shook so much she could barely hold the bat. Tomorrow was the championship game, and Mia was terrified.

That afternoon, while practicing in her backyard, something strange happened. A tiny bull the size of a shoebox trotted out from behind the garden shed. He had golden fur and a silver nose ring that sparkled like stardust.

"Hello there!" said the bull. "I'm Barnaby. I couldn't help but notice your swing could use some magic."

Mia's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

"Bulls can do many things," Barnaby winked. "Especially bulls who've lived near the Moon Waterfall for three hundred years."

He led Mia to a hidden pond behind the old oak tree. The water shimmered with colors that changed every second—blue, green, pink, purple. "One sip gives courage," Barnaby explained. "But first, you must bring me an offering."

Mia rushed to the kitchen and returned with a bundle of fresh spinach from the garden. Barnaby munched happily, his golden fur glowing brighter with every bite.

"Delicious! Now, drink the water and close your eyes."

Mia sipped the sparkling water. Warmth spread through her chest, filling her with a calm, steady confidence. When she opened her eyes, Barnaby was gone, but she found something in the grass—a silver baseball charm shaped like a bull.

The next day, Mia stepped up to the plate. No shaking hands. No fear in her stomach. She saw the ball coming, swung her bat with perfect timing, and—CRACK!—sent it soaring over the fence for a home run.

Her team won the championship. That night, Mia left a bowl of spinach by the garden shed. In the morning, it was gone, and a single silver hair lay beside the empty bowl. Sometimes, she could still hear a tiny, contented munching sound coming from behind the shed.

Mia learned that courage doesn't mean you're never afraid. It means having the magic to believe in yourself—even when you're shaking in your cleats.
