The Bull Who Loved Baseball
Leo sat alone under the swaying palm tree, watching his baseball roll across the sand. 'I wish I had a friend to play with,' he sighed, kicking the ball gently.
Suddenly, the air shimmered like sugar sprinkles. From behind the palm tree stepped the most unexpected sight—a great golden bull with eyes like chocolate drops and a smile as wide as a rainbow.
'Hello there!' the bull said in a voice warm like sunshine. 'I couldn't help but notice that wonderful round thing you're playing with.' He nudged the baseball with his velvety nose. 'My name is Barnaby, and I've watched children play baseball from the clouds for a thousand years.' Leo's mouth dropped open. 'You're... a real bull? And you like baseball?'
Barnaby chuckled, and the sound was like jingle bells. 'Not just any bull, Leo. I'm the Star Bull—the one who carries wishes across the night sky. But oh, how I've dreamed of playing baseball!' He carefully picked up the ball between his mighty golden horns and tossed it back. It sailed through the air in a perfect arc.
Leo's eyes sparkled. 'Want to play catch?'
They played until the sun painted the sky pink and orange. Barnaby caught balls with his tail, hit home runs that bounced off clouds, and taught Leo the secret Bull Hop—a happy dance for scoring points. Under the palm tree, they laughed and played, two friends connected by the magic of a simple game.
As stars began to twinkle, Barnaby nuzzled Leo's hand. 'I must return to the sky now, little friend. But whenever you play baseball, look up—I'll be winking at you from the stars.'
Leo waved as Barnaby galloped upward, leaving trails of stardust. Now, every time Leo plays baseball under his palm tree, he feels extra lucky. He learned that the best friends sometimes come when you least expect them—and that magic lives wherever you find joy and friendship.
