The Bull Who Loved Ball Games

Lily loved visiting her grandfather's farm in the valley. But she was never allowed to go near the old orchard alone. "There's magic there," Grandfather would say with a twinkle in his eye.

One warm afternoon, Lily heard strange sounds coming from the orchard. *Thwack! Thwack! Bounce!* It sounded like a ball game. Curious, she tiptoed through the rows of fruit trees until she reached the clearing.

What she saw made her gasp.

A massive black bull was standing on his hind legs, holding a wooden racquet in his front hooves. He was playing padel against a wooden wall, hitting a bright orange papaya back and forth! The papaya sailed through the air, leaving a trail of sparkling dust.

"You're quite good," said a deep, rumbling voice. The bull turned and smiled at Lily. "I'm Barnaby. Want to play?"

Lily's knees trembled, but Barnaby's kind eyes put her at ease. "I've never played padel before," she admitted.

"Then I'll teach you!" Barnaby trotted over and gently handed her a racquet. "First, you must choose your ball. Papayas are best for beginners – they're soft and sweet when you miss!"

For hours, they played together. Barnaby was patient and kind, cheering every time Lily hit the papaya. The magical fruit never bruised; instead, it grew riper and more fragrant.

"Why do you play alone?" Lily asked during a break.

Barnaby sighed. "Other bulls think I'm strange. They say bulls should only stomp and charge, not play games and make friends."

Lily touched his velvety nose. "They're wrong. Being different is what makes you special."

Barnaby's eyes filled with happy tears. "Would you come back tomorrow? And bring your friends?"

"Every day!" Lily promised.

From then on, the orchard was filled with laughter. Children learned that being different was wonderful – whether you were a bull who loved padel or a girl who befriended a magical bull. And every game ended with sharing the sweetest, ripest papayas under the sun.

Sometimes the best friends come in the most unexpected packages – even ones with horns and a love for ball games!
