The Bull Who Learned to Share
In a sunny island village, there lived a big brown bull named Barnaby. Barnaby was strong and proud, but he had one problem—he didn't like to share.
One hot afternoon, Barnaby found a perfect spot beneath a swaying palm tree. The shade felt cool and wonderful, and nearby grew a bright yellow papaya that looked delicious.
"This is all mine!" Barnaby declared, positioning himself so no one else could enjoy the shade or the fruit.
Little Lila, a girl from the village, approached carrying a heavy bucket. "Please, Barnaby," she asked politely. "May I rest in your shade? I've been walking far to fetch water for my family."
Barnaby shook his big head. "No! This palm tree is mine."
But then Lila's small hands dropped the bucket. Splash! The precious water spilled into the dry sand. Tears filled her eyes. "Now my family has nothing to drink."
Barnaby watched, and something tugged in his big heart. He remembered how his mother had always taught him: true strength is helping others.
The bull stood up. "Come, little one," he said gently. Barnaby used his strong horns to lift the heavy papaya from the tree. "Eat this sweet fruit—it will give you strength. And I know where a secret spring flows with the freshest water."
Lila's eyes widened. "You would help me?"
"I would be honored," Barnaby replied.
Together they walked to the hidden spring, where clear water bubbled from between two ancient stones. Barnaby even let Lila ride on his broad back!
When they returned, the whole village cheered. From that day on, Barnaby became known as the kindest bull on the island. He learned that sharing shade, food, and kindness made his heart feel fuller than any papaya ever could.
And whenever you see a bull resting peacefully beneath a palm tree, perhaps he's not just keeping cool—he's saving a shady spot for a friend.
