The Bull Who Held the Lightning
Maya lived beside a sparkling river where the water danced in the sunlight. Every day, she sat on the grassy bank watching the ripples and dreaming of adventures. One warm afternoon, something splashed in the reeds.
Out stepped the most magnificent creature Maya had ever seen. It was a golden bull with horns that shimmered like morning dew. But this wasn't any ordinary bull — his eyes twinkled with ancient wisdom, and strange symbols glowed faintly on his flank.
"I am Apollo," the bull said gently. "And you, little one, have been chosen to help me."
Maya's eyes widened. "A talking bull! This is the best day ever!"
Apollo smiled. "I guard something very old and precious. Long ago, a great pyramid was built to hold a magic crystal. But I need to return it to its home. The problem is, I cannot do it alone. I need someone quick and quiet. Someone who can be my spy."
"A spy?" Maya jumped up. "I'm perfect! I'm the quietest person in my whole class!"
That night, under a sky full of stars, Maya and Apollo crept toward the mysterious hill where the ancient pyramid lay hidden. The crystal — shaped like a tiny pyramid itself — glowed in Apollo's pack.
Suddenly, storm clouds gathered. CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating something incredible. Hidden in the hillside was the entrance to the pyramid!
"Quickly!" Apollo whispered.
Maya, being the perfect spy, slipped ahead and cleared away the vines blocking the door. Inside, the walls sparkled with drawings of bulls and stars. In the center stood an empty pedestal.
As Apollo placed the crystal upon it, the whole room filled with light. Rain began to fall outside, but the water didn't scare them. The pyramid hummed with energy.
"Thank you, Maya," Apollo said. "You were brave and true. That is the greatest magic of all."
Maya beamed. She had helped a magical bull, explored a pyramid, and become a spy — all in one night! The river water would never look ordinary again.
