The Bull Who Guarded the Sunken Pyramid
Maya loved swimming more than anything. Every summer day, she'd dive into the crystal lake behind her grandmother's house, staying underwater until her lungs tingled.
One afternoon, something glinted in the deep water. Curious, Maya swam down deeper than ever before. There, half-buried in sand, glowed a golden pyramid the size of a lunchbox. But what caught her breath was the shimmering cable stretching from its peak — a ribbon of light that pulsed like a heartbeat.
Maya tugged gently. The cable tightened, then pulled back!
"Who's there?" a voice rumbled, vibrating through the water.
Bubbles rose from behind the pyramid. Out swam a magnificent creature — a bull with golden horns and silver fur, his movements graceful despite his size. He wasn't scary. His eyes were kind and curious.
"I'm Maya," she bubbles.
"I'm Ferdinand," the bull replied. "I've guarded this pyramid for three hundred years. You're the first to find my magic cable."
"Magic?"
Ferdinand smiled. "This cable connects dreams. Every night, it collects wishes from children around the world and stores them in the pyramid. When someone needs hope, the pyramid releases the wishes as stardust."
Maya's eyes widened. "That's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard!"
"But it's lonely work," Ferdinand admitted. "Sometimes I wish I had a friend to share the magic with."
Maya thought for a moment. "What if I visit you every summer? We could watch the wishes together!"
Ferdinand's golden horns glowed brighter. "You'd do that?"
"Of course! Everyone needs a friend. Even magic underwater bulls."
From that day on, Maya returned each summer. She and Ferdinand would swim together, following the glowing cable as it collected wishes from sleeping children across the world. They learned that friendship, like magic, connects hearts across any distance.
And sometimes, on starry nights, Maya would see stardust drifting upward from the lake — wishes taking flight, powered by the friendship between a girl and a bull who discovered that the best magic of all is the kind you share.
