The Bull Who Guarded the Magic Water
Lily was the best nature spy in all of Willow Creek. She could creep through tall grass without making a sound, watching rabbits hop and butterflies dance. Her grandmother called her a "spy," but really, Lily was just a quiet friend to the forest creatures.
One hot afternoon, Lily followed a sparkling path to a hidden meadow she'd never seen before. In the center glowed the most beautiful water she had ever seen—crystal clear and shimmering with tiny rainbow lights. But something stood guard in front of it.
A massive bull.
Lily froze behind a wildberry bush. The bull was enormous, with golden horns that caught the sunlight. But then he did something surprising. He lowered his giant head and gently nudged a baby deer toward the magic water. The deer drank happily while the bull watched protectively.
"You can come out, little spy," the bull rumbled softly. "I won't hurt you."
Lily stepped forward, trembling. The bull's eyes were kind and full of ancient wisdom.
"I'm Bruno," he said. "And this water heals broken wings and thirsty hearts. I've guarded it for three hundred years."
Lily gasped. "You're magic!"
"Only the water is magic," Bruno smiled. "I'm just a friend who protects it."
That day, Lily learned that the scariest-looking creatures can have the gentlest hearts. She became Bruno's helper, and together they watched over the magic water, helping every creature in need.
Sometimes the best spies aren't the ones who hide and watch. The best spies are the ones who find the truth—and share it with kindness.
