The Bull Who Dreamed of Swimming
Barnaby was not like other bulls. While his friends slept in the warm sun, Barnaby gazed at the sparkling river beyond their pasture. He watched fish leap and butterflies dance above the water. But most of all, he dreamed of swimming.
"Bulls don't swim," his friend Bella told him. "Bulls stomp and snort and chase butterflies. That's what bulls do."
But Barnaby couldn't help wishing. Every evening, he crept to the riverbank and dipped one hoof into the cool water. It felt like magic.
One hot summer afternoon, something extraordinary happened. A bright orange piece of fruit tumbled from a passing farmer's cart and rolled right to Barnaby's feet. He'd never seen anything so vibrant—like a piece of sunshine had fallen to earth.
Barnaby nudged the mysterious orange. Suddenly, it began to glow! A tiny fairy popped out, no bigger than Barnaby's nose. She had wings like a dragonfly and hair the color of moonlight.
"You've wished upon the Dream Orange," she chirped. "One wish, big bull. What's in your heart?"
"I want to swim," Barnaby whispered. "I want to glide through the water like the silver fish."
The fairy sprinkled orange dust over Barnaby. "Then swim you shall! But remember—courage comes from trying, even when others say you can't."
That evening, Barnaby stepped into the river. The water welcomed him. To his amazement, he didn't sink. He floated! He kicked his powerful legs and discovered he could swim! Fish gathered around him, curious but friendly. An orange fish—his guide and friend—swam beside him, showing him the hidden wonders beneath the surface.
Word spread quickly. Other farm animals gathered at the riverbank, their eyes wide. Bella watched Barnaby glide through the water with the grace of a swan. When he emerged, water sparkling on his black coat like diamonds, she stepped forward.
"I never knew bulls could swim," she said softly. "I never knew I wanted to learn too."
So Barnaby taught Bella. Soon, all the young bulls were swimming, laughing, and splashing together. The river became their magical playground, where friendship flowed as freely as the water.
The Dream Orange's magic had shown Barnaby something important: being different wasn't bad—it was brave. And sometimes, when you follow your heart, you help others find their courage too.
Now every sunset, you can see them—a herd of happy bulls, swimming together under the orange sky, proving that dreams can come true if you're brave enough to wish upon them.
