The Bull Who Dreamed of Stars
Barnaby was no ordinary bull. While the other cows on Green Meadow Farm chewed grass and napped in the shade, Barnaby spent his days staring at the mysterious golden pyramid that shimmered on the distant hill. No one knew how it got there—it had appeared the very night Barnaby was born.
'What's inside?' Barnaby would ask his mother.
'Nobody knows, dear. Some things are better left as mysteries.'
But Barnaby couldn't help wondering. Every night, he watched a stream of silver light flow from the pyramid's peak into the sky, as if sending secrets to the stars.
One evening, a little girl named Lily appeared at the fence. She had been running through the meadow, her backpack bouncing with every step.
'You're the bull who watches the pyramid,' she said, climbing onto the fence rail. 'I'm going there tomorrow.'
Barnaby's eyes widened. Nobody had ever dared approach it.
'Will you come with me? I need a brave friend.'
The next morning, beneath a sky painted pink and gold, Barnaby and Lily set off. The bull's heavy hooves made thump-thump sounds as they walked, and Lily's sneakers made swish-swish sounds in the tall grass.
When they reached the pyramid, they discovered it wasn't made of stone at all—it was crystallized starlight! Inside, hundreds of fireflies danced, carrying lost wishes in their glowing bellies.
'Take one,' whispered Lily. 'Make a wish.'
Barnaby closed his eyes and wished: *I wish to run like the wind, to see the world beyond the meadow.*
The firefly landed on his nose, and suddenly Barnaby felt light—lighter than he'd ever felt. He began running, and his hooves didn't thump anymore. They hardly touched the ground! He ran with Lily through fields of flowers, over sparkling streams, and up mountains that touched the clouds.
They ran until the stars appeared, then returned home as the first fireflies of evening began their nightly dance.
Every full moon after that, Barnaby and Lily would return to the pyramid, running together through the magical landscape that only those who dream big could ever see.
And somewhere, deep in the meadow, the other cows wondered why Barnaby sometimes smiled at the stars.
The end.
