The Bull Who Dreamed of Pyramids
Emma loved her toy bull, Barnaby. He was small and red, with shiny horns and a determined expression. Every afternoon, Emma would take Barnaby to the backyard pool for swimming lessons—or rather, floating lessons.
"One day, Barnaby," Emma whispered, "you'll swim like a champion."
One hot afternoon, something magical happened. As Emma placed Barnaby gently in the cool blue water, the sunlight caught his red paint just right. Suddenly, Barnaby blinked! His plastic hooves began to paddle, and he swam in perfect circles around Emma's fingers.
"I can swim!" Barnaby cried in a voice like jingle bells. "Emma, I've dreamed of this moment!"
"Where will you go?" Emma asked, delighted but surprised.
"To Egypt!" Barnaby declared. "I've heard tales of the golden pyramids, and I want to see them for myself."
Emma's eyes widened. "But you're so small! How will you get there?"
"By swimming through magic pools!" Barnaby explained. "Every pool connects to every other pool in the world through secret underwater rivers. Trust me, I've studied the maps!"
That evening, Emma helped Barnaby pack a tiny backpack with imaginary snacks and good luck wishes. As the sun set, they stood at the edge of the pool.
"Will I ever see you again?" Emma asked, tears in her eyes.
Barnaby nuzzled her hand. "Friendship isn't about being together all the time. It's about believing in each other's dreams. I'll come back, and I'll have the most wonderful stories to tell!"
With a splash and a sparkle, Barnaby dove deep and disappeared.
Weeks passed. Then one morning, Emma found Barnaby resting on a lily pad in the pool. He looked different now—his paint shimmered with golden dust, and he wore a tiny pyramid-shaped charm around his neck.
"I saw them!" Barnaby exclaimed. "The pyramids were even more magnificent than I imagined. And you know what? The best part was knowing you believed I could do it."
Emma hugged her friend tight. Some adventures take you far from home, but the strongest friendship is the one that stays in your heart, no matter where—or how—you swim.
