The Bull Who Dreamed of Flying

Barnaby was not like other bulls. While the other bulls on Green Meadows Farm spent their days chewing grass and snorting at flies, Barnaby spent his days dreaming.

Most of all, Barnaby dreamed of flying.

Every morning, he would stand at the top of Clover Hill, spread his massive front legs wide like wings, and pretend to soar above the farm. The cows would moo with laughter. The farmer would scratch his head. But Barnaby didn't care.

"Someday," he would whisper to himself, watching the birds dance in the sky.

One sunny afternoon, Barnaby was grazing near the garden when he met Luna, a sleek black cat with bright yellow eyes.

"What are you doing?" Luna asked, tilting her head.

"I'm eating this spinach," Barnaby said proudly. "It gives me strong muscles. And strong muscles help me fly."

Luna's whiskers twitched with amusement. "Bulls don't fly, Barnaby. That's just how things are."

"But why not?" Barnaby asked. "Birds fly. Butterflies fly. Even dandelion seeds fly. Why not me?"

Luna thought about this. She had never seen a bull fly, but she had also never seen a bull who tried quite so hard.

"Maybe you need help," Luna said. "Maybe you need a friend."

The next morning, Luna returned with something special: her favorite feather, found during her adventures in the woods. She placed it gently between Barnaby's horns.

"For luck," she purred.

Barnaby's eyes shone. "Thank you, Luna! Now I'm ready!"

He stood at the top of Clover Hill. He spread his legs. He took a deep breath. And then... he started running.

He ran faster than he had ever run before! His hooves pounded the earth—thump, thump, thump! The wind roared in his ears. The feather between his horns fluttered wildly.

Luna watched, holding her breath.

Suddenly, Barnaby reached the edge of the hill and... LEAPT!

For one magical moment, he was airborne! The world stretched out below him—a patchwork quilt of fields and fences. He saw the garden where he had found the spinach. He saw the farmhouse where the farmer lived. He saw Luna, a tiny black speck on the green hill, waving her tail with joy.

Then, with a gentle *thud*, Barnaby landed in the soft grass below.

Luna came running down the hill. "You did it! You actually did it!" she meowed excitedly.

Barnaby beamed. "I flew!" he said. "Not for long, but I flew!"

"And you'll fly again," Luna said, curling up beside her new friend. "Because you believed you could."

From that day on, Barnaby and Luna were the best of friends. And every afternoon, they would climb Clover Hill together. Barnaby would run and leap, and Luna would cheer. Sometimes he flew for three seconds. Sometimes for five. Once, he even flew for seven glorious seconds!

The other cows still laughed. The farmer still scratched his head. But Barnaby didn't mind. He knew something they didn't:

The only limits that matter are the ones we accept.

And with a good friend by your side, even impossible dreams can come true.
