The Bull Who Dreamed of Baseball

Leo loved visiting his grandfather's farm in Puerto Rico. Every summer, he'd help pick the sweet **papaya** that grew in the orchard, its orange flesh like sunshine on a spoon.

But Leo had a secret. Every night, he peeked through the barn window and saw something magical. The animals came alive!

The biggest surprise was Ferdinand, a massive brown **bull** with gentle brown eyes and a surprising dream. While other bulls chased cows or slept, Ferdinand wanted to play **baseball**.

"I can hit a home run," Ferdinand mooed sadly one evening. "But I have no bat. My hooves are too clumsy."

The other animals tried to help. The chickens offered feathers to make a bat. The goats suggested using a corn stalk. Nothing worked.

Then Leo had an idea. His abuelo had left an old **padel** racket in the barn, forgotten for years. It was small and light, with a strings net perfect for hitting.

"Try this!" Leo whispered, sliding it through the barn window.

Ferdinand's eyes widened. The racket fit perfectly in his mouth! The next morning, Leo woke to amazing sounds. *THWACK! CLANG!*

He rushed outside. The whole farm was awake! Ferdinand stood at home plate, the padel racket in his mouth. The chickens were outfielders. The goats were the base runners. And Leo? He was the pitcher.

"Play ball!" Leo shouted.

Ferdinand swung with all his might. *WHACK!* The papaya they were using as a ball sailed over the fence, into the orchard, and landed perfectly in the basket where Grandpa collected fruit.

"A HOME RUN!" the animals cheered.

Grandpa appeared, rubbing his eyes. "I thought I heard something..." He stared at Ferdinand, still holding the padel racket, and at the papaya in the basket.

Then Grandpa smiled. "You know, Leo, I played padel when I was young. Maybe Ferdinand and I should start a team."

And so they did. Every summer night, the farm came alive with the most magical baseball games anyone had ever seen. Because dreams, Leo learned, come in all shapes and sizes — even if you're a bull who loves baseball.
