The Bull Who Dreamed of Baseball

Leo loved the magical hour before sunset, when the sky turned purple and gold. That's when he snuck to the old baseball diamond at the edge of town. The cracked pavement and rusty backstop felt like a secret kingdom just for him.

One evening, something surprising happened. Behind the left-field fence, a massive nose appeared. Then two enormous curved horns. A bull the size of a small car squeezed through the fence, his black coat shimmering like polished onyx.

"Excuse me," the bull said gently. Leo's iPhone fell from his hand. "I've been watching you play. You have a beautiful swing."

"You... you can talk?" Leo whispered.

"Only during the magic hour," the bull explained. "My name is Barnaby. I've always dreamed of playing baseball, but hooves make catching rather difficult."

Leo's eyes lit up. "I can help!"

Every evening that week, Leo taught Barnaby the game. The bull was surprisingly graceful, galloping around the bases like a gazelle. His horn made the perfect batting tee. Leo used his iPhone to record their adventures, capturing photos of Barnaby hitting home runs that sailed into the clouds.

"But I can't join a real team," Barnaby sighed one evening, watching the sunset paint his horns pink. "They'd never let a bull play."

Leo thought hard. "Maybe they don't have to know."

The next day, Leo's team was down by one run. Two outs, bases loaded. That's when Barnaby trotted onto the field, wearing an oversized hat and Leo's extra jersey.

"New kid!" Leo shouted. "From... uh... Canada!"

The other team stared. The coach scratched his head. But nobody argued when Barnaby smashed the ball into orbit and rounded the bases with thunderous joy.

"WINNING RUN!" everyone cheered, hoisting Barnaby onto their shoulders. As the magic hour faded, Barnaby whispered to Leo, "Friends help friends dream big."

That night, Leo looked at the photo on his iPhone—a blurry, beautiful picture of a bull who learned that believing in yourself (and having one good friend) can make any dream come true.
