The Bull Who Dreamed of Baseball

Barnaby was not like the other bulls. While they chased each other around the pasture, Barnaby sat by the fence watching the children play baseball in the nearby field. He would snort softly as the ball soared through the air, imagining himself running around those bases.

One sunny afternoon, something magical tumbled over the fence—a baseball! Barnaby's eyes widened. He nudged it with his nose. Then he heard a giggle behind him.

"That's my ball!" said a little girl named Lily. She climbed through the fence, but instead of being afraid of the great bull, she smiled. "You like baseball too?"

Barnaby nodded his huge head.

"I'm Lily," she said, reaching into her pocket. "Want to try something special? My grandpa grows enchanted spinach in his garden. He says it gives you courage to follow your dreams."

She pulled out a bright green leaf. Barnaby sniffed it, then ate it. Suddenly, he felt lighter than air! His hooves tingled with magic.

"Now throw the ball!" Lily cheered.

Barnaby gently tapped the baseball with his nose—and it flew higher than any baseball had ever flown! It sparkled like a shooting star.

Lily laughed and clapped. "You're amazing! Let's play catch!"

They played until the sun began to set. Barnaby had never been happier.

"Come back tomorrow!" Lily called as she climbed back through the fence. "We'll make you the first bull ever on a baseball team!"

That night, Barnaby dreamed of bases and home runs, but mostly of a little girl who saw past his size and believed in his dreams. He learned something important that day: friendship and courage can come in the smallest packages—and sometimes, magic spinach helps too.

The other bulls still don't understand why Barnaby waits by the fence every afternoon, but he doesn't mind. Some dreams are worth waiting for, especially when you have friends who believe in you.
