The Bull Who Danced with Moonlight
In a cozy corner of Farmer McGregor's garden, there lived a tiny bull named Barnaby. Unlike other bulls who loved to charge and stampede, Barnaby loved to sit quietly among the growing **spinach** leaves, reading books by moonlight.
One warm summer evening, a sleek black cat named Luna crept into the garden. "I'm the best **swimming** cat in the world," she bragged, puffing out her chest. "I bet I could swim across that big **water** trough by the barn!"
Barnaby blinked. "But cats hate water."
"Not me!" Luna declared. But as she approached the trough, she shivered. The water looked dark and deep. Her whiskers trembled.
Barnaby noticed her fear. "Everyone's afraid of something," he said gently. "I'm afraid of thunderstorms."
Luna's ears perked up. "Really? But you're so big and strong!"
"Being brave doesn't mean not being scared," Barnaby explained. "It means doing what's right even when you ARE scared."
Luna thought about this. She dipped one paw into the water. Then another. Soon, she was paddling happily across the trough. "You were right! It's not so scary after all!"
From that night on, Luna and Barnaby became best friends. Luna taught Barnaby how to climb trees (he wasn't very good at it), and Barnaby taught Luna how to read (she was quite excellent). And every evening, they sat together among the spinach leaves, watching the stars twinkle above, grateful for a friendship that made both of them braver than they could ever be alone.
For that's the wonderful thing about true friends — they help us face our fears, one small splash at a time.
