The Bull Who Danced on Water

In the emerald valley where the hills slept like green giants, there lived a boy named Leo who collected stories instead of marbles. Every evening, he'd sit by the old stone well and whisper his tales into the deep, dark water, hoping someone below might be listening.

One starry night, something magical happened. The water began to shimmer like liquid diamonds, and up rose the most magnificent creature Leo had ever seen—a great golden bull with eyes like honey and horns that curved like moonlight. Leo trembled, but the bull merely bowed his head and spoke in a voice like gentle thunder.

"I am Ferdinand," said the bull. "For three hundred years, I have guarded the Enchanted Spring. You are the first to share a story instead of making a wish."

Every night after that, Leo returned to visit his new friend. Ferdinand showed him wonders: how water could remember every secret ever whispered to it, how the stars were actually diamonds tossed by careless giants, and why crickets chirped different songs for different seasons. The bull even taught Leo to walk across the surface of the magical spring, dancing on water that held them up like solid glass.

When a terrible drought struck the village, the crops withered and the river ran dry. The villagers grew frightened. But Leo knew what to do. He led them to Ferdinand's hidden spring, where the water never ran low.

"Please," Leo asked his bull friend. "My people are thirsty."

Ferdinand smiled, and with a flick of his golden tail, he caused the enchanted water to bubble up from beneath the earth, forming a crystal stream that flowed all the way to the village. The drought ended, and the valley flourished once more.

Leo learned that day that the best friends aren't always the ones you expect to find, and that true kindness flows like water—freely given to anyone who needs it.

And sometimes, if you listen carefully to the water, you can still hear Ferdinand laughing, splashing in his magical spring, waiting for the next storyteller to come along and become his friend.
