The Bull Who Danced on Starlight
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Every Saturday, she climbed the creaky stairs and discovered new treasures tucked away in dusty boxes. But one rainy afternoon, she found something she'd never seen before.
Behind an old painting, Lily spotted a thick black cable disappearing into the wall. It wasn't connected to anything — it just hummed with a strange, musical vibration. Curious, she gave it a gentle tug. The wall shimmered like sunlight on water, and suddenly, she was somewhere else entirely.
Lily stood beside a crystal-clear pool that sparkled like liquid diamonds. Dragonflies with wings like tiny rainbows flitted above the water's surface. But what amazed her most was what she saw in the pool's reflection.
A magnificent bull stood beside her. His coat was the color of storm clouds, with horns that curled like crescent moons. Yet his eyes were soft and kind, filled with ancient wisdom.
"Welcome, Lily," the bull spoke, his voice like distant thunder wrapped in velvet. "I've been waiting for someone who still believes in magic."
The bull explained that this was the Pool of Wishes, where the boldest dreams come true. The magical cable was a bridge between worlds, and only the pure of heart could find it. For many years, no one had believed enough to make the journey.
"What happens now?" Lily asked, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Now," said the bull with a gentle smile, "you make a wish. But remember — the best wishes are ones you share with others."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything — endless candy, a castle, the ability to fly. But she thought of her grandmother, who couldn't visit her garden anymore because her legs hurt too much.
"I wish my grandmother could walk in her garden again," Lily said softly.
The bull nodded approvingly. The pool's water glowed golden, ripples spreading outward like rings of light. The cable hummed louder, and suddenly Lily was back in the attic.
"Lily!" her grandmother called from downstairs. "You must come see this!"
Lily rushed down to find her grandmother standing in her garden, walking easily among the roses, her face filled with joy.
That night, Lily dreamed of storm-gray bulls and crystal pools, of magical cables and wishes shared. She understood then that the real magic wasn't in finding wonderful places — it was in having a heart big enough to wish for someone else's happiness.
And sometimes, if you listen very carefully on rainy afternoons, you might still hear the faint humming of a cable behind the walls, waiting for the next dreamer who believes.
