The Bull Who Could Swim

Barnaby was no ordinary bull. While all the other bulls in the meadow spent their days grazing and napping, Barnaby spent his time watching the sparkling river that flowed past their farm. He dreamed of swimming.

"Bulls don't swim," grumbled Old Thunder, the biggest bull in the herd. "Bulls stomp and snort and stay on dry land. That's how it's always been."

But Barnaby knew better. Every night, he crept down to the riverbank and practiced. First just his hooves, then his legs, until one magical moonlit night, he slipped into the water and discovered he could glide like a fish!

One evening, as Barnaby was swimming laps in the peaceful river, he spotted something unusual. A small green figure was sitting on the riverbank, looking sad and lonely. It was a toy zombie—a plastic action figure that must have fallen from someone's backpack.

"Hello there," Barnaby said, surfacing quietly.

The zombie's painted eyes seemed to light up. "You can swim! But you're a bull! That's impossible!"

"Lots of things seem impossible until someone tries them," Barnaby replied with a smile. "What's your name, little friend?"

"Zed," said the toy zombie. "I was left behind by my boy, Tommy. He probably doesn't even miss me. I'm just a scary zombie toy anyway."

Barnaby shook his massive head. "You're not scary. You're brave, surviving out here all alone. And I bet Tommy misses you very much."

Barnaby had an idea. He carried Zed on his back as he swam upstream, following the trail toward the farmhouse. When they reached Tommy's backyard, they heard the boy crying.

"Zed! I lost my best friend!" Tommy sobbed.

Barnaby gently nudged Zed through the fence with his nose. The little zombie toy tumbled into the grass right in front of Tommy.

"ZED!" Tommy shouted, scooping up his toy. "But how...?" He looked up and saw Barnaby's massive, wet retreating form disappearing into the night.

The next day, Tommy left a note by the river: "Thank you, Mystery Friend. You taught me that even bulls can swim, and even zombies can be heroes."

Barnaby read the note and smiled. Sometimes the most impossible dreams come true, and sometimes the most unlikely friends become the best ones of all.
