The Bull Who Chased Lightning
Maya lived where the sky met the sea. Every evening, she'd sit beneath the ancient palm tree that bent like a kind old grandfather watching over the village.
One starry night, Maya saw something magical—a great glowing bull galloping across the sky! His silver hooves left trails of stardust. His golden horns blazed like captured sunlight.
"I want to run with him," Maya whispered.
The next evening, the Sky Bull came down! He stood beside Maya's palm tree, his coat shimmering with constellations.
"I'm chasing something precious," the Bull rumbled softly. "Lightning that carries forgotten dreams. But I'm too slow alone."
Maya's heart pounded like thunder. "I'll help you!"
She climbed onto the Bull's back, and suddenly they were running—running faster than Maya had ever imagined! Past the moon, around Saturn's rings, through clouds that tasted like cotton candy.
Then Maya saw it: a bolt of lightning crackling with colors she'd never seen—purple, teal, rose. It zigzagged through space like a lost puppy looking for home.
"That's Dream Lightning!" the Bull called. "It fell from children's wishes long ago. We must catch it before it fades!"
Maya leaned forward. "Faster!" she cried.
The Sky Bull gave a mighty leap, and suddenly they were running beside the lightning itself. Maya reached out—her fingers tingled with magic—and caught it!
The lightning curled around her hand like a sleepy cat, then split into a million tiny sparks that drifted down to Earth.
"Where are they going?" Maya asked.
"Back to the children who forgot how to dream," the Bull said kindly.
Maya felt warm inside, like she'd swallowed sunshine.
Every night now, she sits beneath her palm tree, watching the Sky Bull run through the stars. And sometimes—just sometimes—she sees lightning in unusual colors, carrying someone's dream back home.
The palm tree whispers to her: "Magic is real for those who believe."
Maya smiles, because she knows the secret: The bravest thing you can do is help someone else's dream come true.
