The Bull Who Chased Lightning

Ten-year-old Leo loved thunderstorms. While other children hid under blankets, Leo pressed his nose against the window, watching the sky dance with light.

One rainy afternoon, Leo spotted something strange in the meadow behind his house. A massive black bull stood motionless in the tall grass, its horns glowing like molten gold. Lightning flashed across the sky, and the bull looked up, as if greeting an old friend.

Leo grabbed his yellow raincoat and ran outside. The bull turned its head and fixed Leo with kind, intelligent eyes.

"You're not afraid of the storm?" Leo whispered.

The bull shook its head slowly. Its voice rumbled like distant thunder. "I am Thunder. I have waited many years for someone who understands."

Thunder explained that he came from a magical land hidden inside the Great Pyramid beyond the clouds. Once every hundred years, he descended to Earth to find a brave heart. "I chase lightning to bring rain to thirsty lands," Thunder said proudly. "But my powers are fading. I need a friend to help me remember why rain matters."

Leo's eyes widened. "Water gives life to everything!"

"Exactly," Thunder replied. "Climb on my back. There's something you must see."

Leo scrambled onto the bull's broad back. Thunder began running—faster than any horse, faster than the wind itself. They soared through the storm clouds, past bolts of lightning that painted the sky purple and silver.

Below them, Leo saw dry fields and wilting forests. Where Thunder's hooves touched the clouds, gentle rain began to fall. Leo understood: Thunder wasn't just chasing lightning for fun. He was bringing hope to the earth.

"You're a hero," Leo said, hugging Thunder's neck.

"We are heroes together now," Thunder replied. "Real heroes never work alone."

When they landed back in the meadow, the storm had passed. A rainbow stretched across the sky like a colorful smile.

"Will I see you again?" Leo asked.

"Look for me in every storm," Thunder said. "And remember—the bravest thing you can do is help others, even when it's scary."

Leo watched Thunder disappear into the clouds. From that day on, whenever thunder rumbled, Leo smiled. He knew his friend was up there, chasing lightning, bringing water to the world, and being the hero that every storm needs.
