The Bull Who Caught Lightning

Barnaby was the gentlest bull on Sunshine Farm. His dark brown eyes were kind, and he loved nothing more than letting children pat his soft nose. But Barnaby had one worry—his hair.

"Just look at it!" Barnaby sighed, gazing into the pond. "It sticks up everywhere! It's wild and messy and completely untamable!"

His hair wasn't like the other bulls' smooth coats. Barnaby's fluffy brown hair grew in every direction, making him look like he'd stuck his hoof in an electrical socket.

One afternoon, as dark clouds gathered over the farm, the farmer's daughter Lily ran to the barn. "Barnaby! Come quick! There's a calf stuck in the mud by the creek!"

Barnaby followed Lily through the growing storm. Rain poured down as thunder rumbled overhead. There, trapped in the muddy creek bank, was a tiny calf shivering with fear.

Barnaby lowered his head and pushed against the mud, but his hooves slipped. He tried again, straining with all his might. Suddenly, a brilliant bolt of lightning cracked the sky above and struck nearby!

The energy surged through Barnaby's wild hair, making it glow with golden light. His hair stood straight up, crackling with magic, and suddenly he felt stronger than ever before!

With his lightning-charged strength, Barnaby pulled the calf free and carried it safely to dry ground. Lily gasped as she saw his glowing hair fading back to normal.

"Barnaby! Your hair—it caught the lightning! You're magical!"

The calf nudged Barnaby gratefully. "Thank you! Your hair is amazing!"

Barnaby touched his fluffy head and smiled. Maybe his wild hair wasn't so bad after all. It made him special, and special was wonderful.

From that day on, Barnaby never worried about his hair again. He knew that being different was what made him perfectly, wonderfully himself.
