The Bull Who Caught Dreams
Leo loved his old baseball hat more than anything. It had belonged to his grandfather, and Leo wore it everywhere—even when he wasn't playing baseball.
One hot afternoon, Leo sat by the pool in his backyard, dipping his feet in the cool water. He tossed his baseball up and down, up and down, wishing he had someone to play with.
Suddenly, the water began to shimmer and glow. Leo leaned closer, and to his surprise, the most enormous bull he had ever seen emerged from the pool!
But this wasn't a scary bull. His fur was the color of sunshine, and his eyes twinkled like stars.
"Hello there!" the bull said in a deep, friendly voice. "I'm Barnaby, and I've been swimming in this magical pool for three hundred years."
Leo's baseball hat nearly fell off his head. "You can talk?"
"And catch!" Barnaby laughed. He gently nudged Leo's baseball with his nose and tossed it back with perfect aim.
For hours, Leo and Barnaby played the most wonderful game of baseball ever. The pool water sparkled with magic, making the baseball glow rainbow colors when it flew through the air.
"Why have you been in the pool for so long?" Leo asked.
Barnaby sighed. "I'm waiting for someone brave enough to be my friend. Everyone sees a bull and runs away. But you didn't."
Leo smiled. "My grandfather always said, 'Never judge someone by how big they are. Judge them by how big their heart is.'"
Barnaby's eyes shone. "Your grandfather was a wise man. He and I played baseball right here by this pool, many years ago."
Leo gasped. "That's his hat!"
From that day on, Leo and Barnaby were the best of friends. Leo learned that sometimes the most wonderful friends come in the most surprising packages—and that a little courage can lead to the greatest adventures of all.
