The Bull Who Befriended the Moon

Barnaby was no ordinary bull. He had a secret—he loved to stargaze. While the other cows slept, Barnaby would trot to the top of Clover Hill and watch the moon.

One night, something strange caught his eye. A green glow flickered behind Old Man Miller's barn. Barnaby's nose twitched. His hooves danced nervously. But his curiosity pulled him forward.

What he found made his eyes go wide. A zombie!

But this wasn't a scary monster. It was a small, greenish boy named Zed, rummaging through a pile of junk. Zed looked up and gasped.

"You can see me?" Zed asked. "Most animals run away."

Barnaby shook his massive head. "I'm Barnaby. I don't run from friends."

Zed smiled, showing crooked teeth. "I'm not really a zombie. I'm under a curse from a grumpy wizard. I need to find something magical to break it."

"What are you looking for?" Barnaby asked.

"A crystal cable," Zed explained, pulling a tangled wire from the junk pile. "This old TV cable can transmit moon magic if I set it up just right."

Barnaby's tail swished excitedly. "I know magic! I can help you be a spy for the moon!"

Together, they worked through the night. Barnaby carried Zed on his back up Clover Hill. They strung the cable between two old oak trees, creating a magical antenna.

"Now we need to be very still," Zed whispered.

They sat together as moonbeams danced along the cable. Suddenly, a brilliant light washed over Zed. The green faded from his skin. His smile brightened.

"It worked!" Zed cheered. "Barnaby, your friendship broke the curse!"

"That's the real magic," Barnaby said wisely. "Friendship is the strongest spell of all."

From that night on, Barnaby and Zed were best friends. They learned that the strangest creatures can make the best companions, and that true friends never run away from each other—not even when one happens to be a zombie and the other happens to be a stargazing bull.

And sometimes, if you look very carefully at Clover Hill on moonlit nights, you can still see them there—a bull and a boy, sitting side by side, watching stars and sharing secrets across their magical cable.
