The Bull Who Ate Starlight

Lily loved reading adventure stories about brave explorers and secret agents. She dreamed of having her own exciting mission someday.

One starry night, something magical happened. Lily peeked through her window and saw a soft golden glow in the garden. When she tiptoed outside, her eyes went wide.

A gentle bull with fur like moonlight stood among the flowers. But this wasn't an ordinary bull—his horns sparkled with tiny stars, and his eyes twinkled like constellations.

"Hello, little one," the bull said in a voice like wind chimes. "I'm Barnaby, the Star Gardener. I need your help."

Lily's heart raced like a hummingbird's wings. This was better than any storybook!

Barnaby explained that the stars were growing dim because they weren't getting enough magic. He needed special glowing berries from the forest to make "star vitamins"—magical food that would make the stars shine bright again.

"Will you be my secret helper?" Barnaby asked. "Like a tiny spy on a very important mission?"

Lily nodded so hard her curls bounced. She felt brave and special.

Together they crept into the forest. Lily was the perfect spy—she was small, quiet, and quick. She spotted the glowing berries hidden under ferns and behind mossy rocks. Barnaby collected them carefully in his starry saddlebag.

Each berry pulsed with rainbow light. "These aren't just vitamins for stars," Barnaby whispered. "They're made from children's wishes and dreams."

Lily understood then. The stars needed hope and imagination to glow.

They returned to the garden as the first rays of dawn appeared. Barnaby tossed the berries into the sky, where they burst into shimmering dust. The stars twinkled brighter than ever, painting the night with silver magic.

"Thank you, my brave spy friend," Barnaby said, nuzzling Lily's hand with his soft nose. "You helped save the night sky."

Lily waved as he galloped up a moonbeam, disappearing among the constellations.

That night, Lily fell asleep smiling. She had discovered that real adventures are even better than stories—and that the best missions are the ones you do with friends.

Now whenever she sees the stars twinkling extra bright, she knows it's Barnaby saying hello, and she secretly waves back at her friend among the stars.
