The Bull's Secret Splash
Max loved his red baseball cap more than anything. He wore it everywhere—even when eating breakfast! One sunny afternoon, Max was playing baseball with his friends at the park. He wound up for the biggest hit of his life, and—SWOOSH—his favorite hat flew off his head and landed right in the middle of the pond!
"No fair!" Max cried, running to the water's edge. The pond was deep and murky. How would he ever get his hat back?
Just then, something enormous moved beneath the water. Bubbles rose to the surface. Max held his breath as a massive creature emerged—it was a bull! But this was no ordinary bull. His fur was shimmering and silver, like moonlight on water. And he was swimming gracefully, as if he'd been doing it his whole life.
"I'm Barnaby," said the bull, his voice deep and rumbly. "And you must be the boy who lost his favorite hat."
Max's mouth fell open. "You can talk? And you're swimming? Bulls don't swim!"
Barnaby laughed, and the sound made ripples across the pond. "Magic bulls do! Watch this." The bull dove underwater, and a moment later, popped up with Max's red cap balanced perfectly on his horns.
"But why were you swimming?" Max asked, taking his hat gratefully.
"Because magic needs practice, just like baseball," Barnaby explained. "Every morning at dawn, I swim laps to keep my magic strong. Want to see what else I can do?"
Max nodded eagerly.
Barnaby swam in circles, and suddenly the pond water turned into sparkling lemonade! Max dipped his fingers in—it was real! The bull winked. "Magic is for sharing."
From that day on, Max visited Barnaby every morning. He even brought his baseball team to meet the swimming bull. They learned that the most magical things in life are the friends who surprise you, and that sometimes the most wonderful adventures happen when you least expect them—like finding a magic bull who loves swimming as much as you love baseball.
And Max? He never lost his hat again. But he did learn that some friends are worth more than all the baseball caps in the world.
