The Bull's Orange Sunset

Lily loved to sit by the sparkling water of Willow Creek. Every evening after school, she'd dangle her feet in the cool stream and watch the dragonflies dance. But today, something magical happened.

The water began to ripple and glow. From the depths emerged a magnificent bull, not scary like the ones in storybooks, but gentle and kind. His fur shimmered like morning dew, and his hair flowed like liquid sunshine, turning brilliant orange in the setting light.

"Hello, little one," the bull said softly. "I'm Barnaby, guardian of the wishing water."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"

"Magic words flow through these waters," Barnaby replied with a wink. "And you, my dear, have the kindest heart I've seen in many moons."

He nudged something toward her—an orange so bright it seemed to glow from within. "Take this. It's a Sunset Orange, grown in magical gardens where dreams come true."

Lily took the fruit carefully. "What does it do?"

"Share it," Barnaby said. "Its magic multiplies with every act of kindness."

The next day, Lily brought the orange to school. Her friend Emma had forgotten her lunch. Without hesitation, Lily split the orange perfectly in half. But as she did, something amazing happened—suddenly there were two whole oranges!

She shared with classmates who were sad, lonely, or hungry. Each time she gave one away, more appeared in her basket. By sunset, she had given away twenty oranges.

That evening, Barnaby appeared again. His hair glowed brighter than ever, like captured fireflies.

"You did it," he said proudly. "You multiplied the magic."

"But I kept none for myself," Lily said.

Barnaby smiled. "That's why the magic worked. True kindness asks for nothing in return."

He pressed his warm nose against her palm. "Whenever you need me, come to the water. Call my name, and watch for the orange sunset."

Lily hugged him, burying her face in his soft hair. From that day on, she wasn't just a lonely girl by the creek. She was a guardian of kindness, with a magical bull as her best friend.

And every evening, if you look carefully where water meets the setting sun, you might still see Barnaby's orange hair flowing like a rainbow, waiting for the next kind heart to believe in magic.
