The Bull's Orange Magic
Lily discovered the old iphone buried under her grandmother's attic blankets. It didn't work like regular phones—no games, no internet, just a single glowing orange button on the screen.
"What does it do?" she whispered, pressing it with her fingertip.
Suddenly, the attic walls dissolved into golden mist. Lily found herself standing in a meadow filled with flowers that hummed soft melodies. In the center sat a magnificent bull with fur the color of sunshine and horns that curled like cinnamon sticks.
"You found the cable between worlds," the bull said kindly. His voice sounded like wind chimes.
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"I'm Ferdinand, guardian of the Orange Grove." He stood, and Lily noticed something—a thick, orange cable trailing from his harness, disappearing into sparkles in the air. "This cable connects our worlds. But it's fraying, and soon the connection will break forever."
"What happens then?"
"Children will stop imagining," Ferdinand said sadly. "Your world will become gray and serious. No more magic, no more wonder."
Lily's heart raced. "How can I help?"
"The cable needs to be reconnected to something pure and good. Something that represents friendship and joy." Ferdinand's brown eyes twinkled. "Do you know such a thing?"
Lily thought hard. Then she remembered—her grandmother had given her a bracelet woven with orange threads, made by her best friend before moving away. She'd promised never to take it off.
"My friendship bracelet!" Lily cried. "It's orange, and my friend Emma made it for me."
"Perfect," Ferdinand nodded. "The cable recognizes true friendship."
Lily pressed her iphone's orange button again, and the meadow faded. Back in the attic, she unwrapped the orange bracelet from her wrist and wrapped it around the mysterious cable she hadn't noticed before—a real cable that had appeared with the iphone.
The cable glowed brilliant orange. Warmth filled the attic, and somewhere far away, she heard Ferdinand's thankful moo.
On the iphone screen, words appeared: "Thank you, friend. Imagination lives forever."
Lily smiled, knowing magic was real, and friendship was the strongest magic of all.
