The Bull's Magical Game

Lily couldn't sleep. The full moon painted silver stripes across her bedroom floor, and her faithful dog Barnaby kept nudging her hand with his wet nose. Something magical was happening tonight.

"Come on, Barnaby," Lily whispered, slipping out the window in her pajamas. The dog's tail thumped happily as they tiptoed to the old garden shed, where something glowed softly behind the wooden door.

Inside, Lily gasped. The broken equipment had vanished, replaced by a shimmering blue and gold padel court. But the most amazing thing was who was playing there.

A zombie stood on one side—but not a scary one. This zombie had bright purple hair tied in rainbow ribbons, wore sparkling sneakers, and juggled three padel balls with bony green fingers. On the other side stood a massive bull with enormous curved horns, but he smiled gently and wore a tiny referee whistle.

"You're just in time!" called the zombie, whose name was Zola. "We're one player short for our midnight match!"

The bull, whose name was Bruno, nodded his enormous head. "Would you like to play? The winner gets a wish from the Magic Pool."

Lily's eyes widened. She'd heard stories about the Magic Pool hidden deep in the Enchanted Forest—it could grant one true wish each full moon.

"I'll play!" Lily cried, grabbing a padel racket. Barnaby barked excitedly and chased after every ball.

The game was magical. Zola served balls that turned into butterflies mid-air. Bruno hit shots that sparkled like fireworks. Lily swung with all her might, laughing as she and Zola rallied back and forth while Bruno cheerfully kept score.

But then Lily noticed something sad. Every time Zola hit a winning shot, she looked down at her feet and whispered, "I wish I had friends who weren't afraid of me."

Lily stopped the game. "Zola, why would anyone be afraid of you? You're wonderful!"

Zola sighed. "I'm a zombie. Most people run away before they even say hello."

Lily looked at Bruno, who nodded understandingly. "People are afraid of me too," the bull rumbled softly. "Because I'm so big."

Lily smiled. "Well, I'm not afraid of either of you. You're my friends now. And Barnaby likes you too!"

Barnaby bounded over and licked Zola's hand, making her laugh—a sound like wind chimes.

Bruno wiped a tear from his eye. "Lily, you've won the game. Not because of points, but because of your heart. You may make your wish at the Magic Pool."

The shimmering pool appeared in the center of the court, its waters glowing with stardust.

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything—to fly, for endless candy, for a castle of her own. But she looked at her new friends.

"I wish that Zola and Bruno find all the friends they deserve, and that we can play padel together every full moon forever!"

The Magic Pool swirled with golden light. And from that night on, Lily, Barnaby, Zola the friendly zombie, and Bruno the gentle bull played magical midnight matches, teaching everyone that sometimes the most wonderful friends are the ones you least expect.
