The Bull's Magic Garden
Lily discovered the secret path on a Tuesday, right behind her grandmother's old apple tree. The path wound through sparkling flowers that hummed soft melodies when she brushed past them.
At the end of the path stood the most magnificent bull she had ever seen. His coat was the color of sunset gold, and his horns curled like polished cinnamon sticks. But what made him special was his garden.
"Hello there!" The bull spoke in a voice like warm honey. "I'm Barnaby. Would you like to see my magic spinach?"
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk? And you grow magic spinach?"
"The best spinach in all the world," Barnaby said proudly. "One leaf makes you strong. Two leaves make you brave. Three leaves? Well, that's for special adventures."
Suddenly, a sad shuffling sound came from the woods. Out stumbled a creature that looked like a zombie rabbit—gray fur, droopy ears, and eyes that sparkled with lonely tears.
"Oh dear," Barnaby whispered. "That's poor Zibble. He was caught in the Forgetfulness Fog last week. He's been wandering ever since, looking for his friends."
Zibble flopped down and let out the most pitiful sigh.
"Can we help him?" Lily asked, her heart squeezing with sympathy.
Barnaby nodded. "We need the magic spinach. But it only grows in the meadow across the Laughing River. And Zibble is too confused to cross by himself."
"I'll carry him!" Lily scooped up the zombie rabbit, who snuggled into her arms like a warm, fuzzy stone.
"Running shoes on!" Barnaby called, and suddenly Lily was sprinting faster than she'd ever run before. Barnaby galloped beside her, his golden hooves leaving glowing hoofprints on the grass.
They reached the magic spinach patch just as the sun began to set. The leaves shimmered like tiny emerald stars.
Lily fed Zibble three leaves of the magic spinach. First his ears perked up. Then his gray fur turned fluffy and white. Finally, his eyes sparkled with joy.
"My friends!" Zibble bounced happily. "I remember! Thank you!"
Barnaby beamed. "Magic works best when paired with kindness."
Lily waved goodbye to her new friends, knowing she would return. Because some adventures are too wonderful to happen only once.
