The Bull in the Baseball Glove
Billy was a boy with hair that stood up like golden wheat in the wind. His mom said it was full of magic. Every morning, Billy's hair did something different—sometimes it curled like springs, sometimes it puffed like cotton candy, and sometimes it sparkled in the sunlight.
One summer afternoon, Billy was practicing baseball in his backyard when something extraordinary happened. As he tossed his baseball into the air, the ball began to glow with a soft blue light. When it landed, a tiny bull no bigger than Billy's hand popped out!
"I'm Ferdinand," the bull said in a voice like jingle bells. "And I've been waiting inside baseballs for 100 years to find someone with magic hair!"
Billy's eyes grew wide. "You've been living inside baseballs?"
"Only the special ones," Ferdinand nodded. "Your hair told me you're the kind of kid who would help me find my way back home to the Starry Field, where all the magical bulls play baseball every night."
Billy's hair began to tingle and float toward the sky. "I think it likes this idea!"
Ferdinand touched Billy's hair with his tiny horn, and suddenly they were floating upward, higher than the trees, higher than the clouds, until they reached a field made of diamond-shaped stars. There, dozens of bulls played baseball with comets that streaked across the sky like shooting stars.
"We need one more player for our team," said a bull with a moon-shaped spot on his nose. "Will you join us, Billy?"
Billy's hair glowed brighter than ever as he stepped up to home plate. The pitch came—a comet blazing like fireworks. Billy swung his magical hair, and the comet soared through galaxies, landing among real stars.
"Home run!" Ferdinand cheered, and the other bulls trumpeted with joy.
That night, Billy learned that being different—having wild, magical hair—was actually his greatest gift. And Ferdinand learned that sometimes, the smallest friends can help you find the biggest dreams.
When Billy woke up in his bed the next morning, a tiny baseball rested on his pillow. Inside, he could hear Ferdinand's gentle snoring, ready for their next adventure.
