The Bull and the Backyard Magic

Leo loved his backyard, especially on full moon nights. That's when the old swimming pool glittered like liquid stars.

One evening, Leo heard something splashing. He peered over the fence and gasped. A giant bull stood waist-deep in the pool! But this wasn't an ordinary bull. His fur shimmered with rainbow colors, and his horns glowed like moonbeams.

"Hello," said the bull softly. "I'm Barnaby. I come here every full moon to wish upon my reflection."

Leo's eyes widened. "I'm Leo. What do you wish for?"

Barnaby sighed. "A friend who isn't afraid of me. Everyone runs away when they see my rainbow magic."

Suddenly, something green and lumpy crawled from the bushes. It looked like a zombie from Leo's video games! Its arm fell off, then popped back on with a silly *boing* sound.

"Brains?" the zombie asked, then giggled. "Just kidding! I'm Zed, and I'm looking for my lost shoe."

Barnaby trembled. But Leo noticed something—Zed wasn't scary at all. He was wearing polka-dot shorts and a giant smile.

"Don't be afraid," Leo whispered to Barnaby. "Look at his happy dance!"

Zed started doing the wiggliest, silliest dance ever. The bull's rainbow fur began to glow brighter than ever.

"That's wonderful!" Barnaby cheered. He joined in, splashing rainbow water everywhere.

"Want to play?" Zed asked. "We can have a pool party!"

And so they did. They splashed and danced until the moon began to set. Zed found his shoe (it was on his foot the whole time!). Barnaby made rainbow waves. Leo laughed until his belly hurt.

"Same time next full moon?" Barnaby asked.

"Absolutely!" Leo and Zed said together.

As Leo climbed into bed, he learned something magical: sometimes the scariest-looking things are just friends you haven't met yet. And the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to say hello.
