The Brave Little Swimmer

Maya stood at the edge of the pool, her toes curled tight against the concrete. The water looked like a big blue monster, waiting to swallow her up. All the other kids splashed and laughed, but Maya couldn't move.

"You can do it!" called her best friend, Leo, floating on his back like a happy starfish. "It's fun!" But Maya just shook her head.

That evening, Maya's grandmother pulled something from her pocket—a tiny, glowing orange tablet. "This is a special vitamin," she whispered with a twinkle in her eye. "It won't make you swim, but it will help you find your courage."

The next day, Maya stood at the pool again, her heart pounding like a drum. She thought about the vitamin and her grandmother's words. Maybe courage didn't mean you weren't scared. Maybe courage meant being scared but doing it anyway.

Maya took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and jumped!

SPLASH!

The water wrapped around her like a cool, friendly hug. She opened her eyes and saw Leo grinning beside her. "You're doing it! You're swimming!" he cheered.

Maya kicked her legs and moved her arms, just like the teacher had shown them. She was actually swimming! And it felt magical—like flying, but better.

"You were so brave!" Leo said afterward as they sat on the pool edge, dangling their feet in the water. "I knew you could do it."

Maya smiled, realizing that the real magic hadn't been the vitamin at all. It had been inside her all along, just waiting to be brave. And having a friend who believed in you? That was the greatest magic of all.

From that day on, Maya swam every chance she got, and sometimes she even helped other scared kids find their courage too.
