The Brave Little Snack

In a cozy cave near a sparkling mountain stream lived Bruno, a big brown bear with the softest fur in the whole forest. Bruno loved honey, berries, and salmon. But there was one thing he absolutely would NOT eat – anything green.

One sunny morning, Bruno sat by the river, feeling sad. His tummy rumbled, but he'd already eaten all the honey he could find. Suddenly, something orange flashed in the water.

"Hello there!" squeaked a tiny voice.

Bruno leaned over and saw the most beautiful goldfish he'd ever seen. Her scales shimmered like sunshine, and her fins flowed like ribbons in the breeze.

"I'm Goldie!" said the goldfish, swimming in circles. "Why the long face, big bear?"

"I'm hungry," Bruno sighed. "But I only like orange food. Like your beautiful scales."

Goldie giggled, sending bubbles floating to the surface. "That's silly! I know where there's something delicious – and yes, it's green. But it'll make you strong enough to climb the highest mountain!"

Bruno shook his head. "No green food. Never."

"But what if I try it first?" Goldie challenged. "If I'm brave enough to try something new, aren't you big enough to be brave too?"

Bruno thought about this. He WAS big. And strong. And Goldie was so tiny...

Goldie led him to a garden patch where leaves grew like little green emeralds. "Spinach!" she announced. "The magical food that gives heroes their power!"

Bruno's nose twitched. It didn't smell like honey. It didn't smell like salmon.

"Just one bite," Goldie encouraged. "For me?"

Bruno took a tiny nibble. His eyes went wide. "It's... it's like eating a piece of the forest! Crunchy and fresh and somehow... happy!"

Soon Bruno was eating spinach by the pawful. And you know what? The next day, he DID climb that mountain – with Goldie swimming beside him in every little stream along the way.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is try something new. And good friends help you find courage you never knew you had.
