The Brave Little Bull

Lily's favorite toy was a small ceramic bull named Barnaby. He had painted-on spots and one chipped horn, but Lily loved him best of all her toys.

One full-moon night, Lily heard tiny hooves clip-clopping across her floorboard. She peeked through her eyelashes and gasped - Barnaby was alive! He wore a miniature spy hat and carried a toothpick sword.

"Psst!" whispered Barnaby. "I'm on a secret mission. Are you brave enough to come?"

Lily nodded, her heart fluttering like a captured butterfly. She tiptoed after her bull friend as they crept downstairs, past sleeping parents, and into the garden.

"I'm a toy spy," Barnaby explained proudly. "Tonight I must solve the Mystery of the Midnight Muncher. Someone's been eating Mrs. Green's prize-winning vegetables!"

Suddenly, they heard a *groooooaaaan* from the pumpkin patch.

Lily squeaked and hid behind Barnaby. "What's that?"

Out stumbled a creature - green skin, ragged clothes, stiff movements. "A zombie!" Lily gasped.

But the zombie didn't want brains. It wanted... PUMPKINS? The zombie was a little girl named Zoe who lived next door, sleepwalking in her zombie Halloween costume!

"Oh," said Barnaby, adjusting his spy hat. "This is an easy mystery to solve."

Together, Lily and Barnaby guided Zoe back to her bed, leaving a trail of pumpkin seeds to help her find her way home if she sleepwalked again.

"Good job, partner," Barnaby told Lily as the sun began to peek over the hills. "Being brave doesn't mean you're not scared. It means doing what's right even when you ARE scared."

Lily hugged her bull tight. "Can we go on another adventure tomorrow night?"

Barnaby winked. "A spy never reveals her secrets... but I think something tells me yes!"

And every night after, Lily and Barnaby had magical adventures, proving that the best friends come in the smallest packages - even ceramic ones with chipped horns.
