The Boy with Lightning in His Hair
Leo had the most unusual hair in town. Whenever he got excited, tiny sparks of lightning would dance through his curly brown strands.
One sunny afternoon, Leo stood at the baseball field, his heart pounding. Today was the big championship game, and he was the pitcher.
"Ready, Leo?" his best friend Mia called from behind home plate, tapping her bat against the plate.
Leo nodded, but his hands trembled. As he wound up to throw the first pitch, his hair began to crackle with electricity. The baseball in his hand started to glow.
*CRACK!*
The ball flew from his hand, trailing lightning like a comet. It spun through the air so fast that Mia couldn't even swing.
"Strike!" the umpire shouted.
The crowd gasped. Leo's teammates rushed to the mound, their own hair standing straight up from the static electricity.
"Your hair made the ball go super fast!" said the captain, grinning.
Leo smiled. Usually, he felt embarrassed about his lightning hair. But today, it had helped his team.
The game continued, and with every pitch Leo threw, the baseball sparked and zoomed. The other team couldn't hit anything.
Final score: 12 to 0. Leo's team won the championship!
As his teammates lifted him onto their shoulders, Leo's hair crackled with joy. Tiny bolts of lightning reached toward the sky like fireworks.
"You're not weird," Mia whispered, hugging him. "You're magical."
That night, Leo looked in the mirror and ran a hand through his sparkling hair. Maybe being different wasn't so bad after all. Sometimes, the things that make us strange are the things that make us special.
And every time he played baseball after that day, Leo pitched with lightning in his hair and pride in his heart.
