The Boy Who Could Fly

Leo found the old hat in his grandmother's attic. It was bright orange with a silver buckle that twinkled like stars. When he put it on, something magical happened. He began to float! Just a little at first, like a balloon caught in a gentle breeze.

Every night, Leo would spy on the moon from his window. He watched as it changed shape, wondering what secrets it held. One evening, as he floated near his window, the moon spoke to him.

"Little friend," the moon whispered, "I need your help. My friend the Sphinx has lost her riddle, and without it, she cannot guard the dreams of children."

Leo's heart raced with excitement. He grabbed his backpack, stuffed it with chocolate chip cookies, and soared out the window on his orange hat. The wind carried him higher and higher until he landed softly on the moon's surface.

There he saw the Sphinx—a beautiful creature with the body of a lion and the face of a wise woman. But she looked sad. Her eyes were dim, and her golden fur had lost its shine.

"I cannot remember who I am," she said. "Without my riddle, children forget their dreams."

Leo remembered the stories his grandmother had told him. "A riddle is like a key," he said. "Maybe we need to find what makes you special."

Suddenly, a great bull appeared in the starry sky—the constellation Taurus. His horns gleamed like polished silver, and his eyes held ancient wisdom.

"The Sphinx's riddle is not something you find," the Bull said. "It is something you give. Friendship is the greatest riddle of all, because it asks us to be kind without asking why."

Leo understood. He took the Sphinx's paw and said, "I'll be your friend, even when you don't have all the answers. We can figure things out together."

The Sphinx's eyes began to shine again. Her golden fur sparkled. "That is my riddle!" she cried. "What is something you give away but keep more of? Friendship!"

Leo's orange hat glowed brighter than ever. He flew back home just as the sun began to rise. From that night on, children everywhere remembered their dreams, because one boy with a magical hat knew that the best magic of all is being a friend.
