The Boy Who Caught Lightning
Leo was a curious boy who loved storms. While other children hid under blankets when thunder rumbled, Leo pressed his nose against the window, watching the sky dance with light.
One rainy afternoon, while exploring his grandmother's dusty attic, Leo found an old purple hat tucked behind a trunk. It was made of velvet and had silver stars stitched around the brim. When he placed it on his head, the hat gave a little wiggle, as if it were adjusting itself perfectly.
That evening, a fierce storm rolled through. Lightning flashed across the dark sky like jagged cracks in a giant's porcelain plate. Leo rushed outside, the purple hat snug on his head, feeling strangely brave.
Suddenly, a tiny bolt of lightning — no bigger than a firefly — spiraled down and landed right in Leo's open palm.
Incredibly, the lightning didn't burn him at all. Instead, it transformed into a glowing sprite with crackling yellow hair and sparkling blue eyes, no larger than Leo's thumb.
"I'm Spark!" the tiny being announced, bouncing happily in Leo's hand. "Your magical hat called me!"
Leo's heart raced with excitement. A real, living lightning sprite! He had found a friend beyond his wildest dreams. Together, they discovered the hat's magical ability to summon and communicate with lightning sprites.
But Spark had a problem. His lightning family was trapped in a dark cloud, unable to return home to the stars. They needed someone brave enough to help them.
Leo knew what he had to do. With Spark in his palm and the purple hat on his head, he climbed the tallest hill during the next storm. He raised his hands high, and the hat glowed brighter than a thousand fireflies.
"Go home!" Leo called, sending every bit of courage he had through the hat.
The lightning sprites shot upward like a fountain of sparkling diamonds, painting the sky with gratitude. The storm cleared, and a rainbow arched across the horizon.
Leo had learned something important: true courage isn't about not being scared. It's about helping others, even when you are. And sometimes, the most magical friends come from the most unexpected places — even from lightning itself.
From then on, every storm brought a new adventure. Leo would touch his palm to his hat, and somewhere, a tiny lightning sprite would wave back, grateful for the boy who had become their guardian.
