The Boy Who Befriended a Storm

Ten-year-old Max had a secret. Every evening, he'd climb to his rooftop with his favorite thing in the world—a bright orange baseball his grandmother gave him. Max loved storms, and he wished he could catch lightning.

"Hello!" the fairy giggled, her voice sounding like distant thunder. "I'm Zap! Your orange baseball tastes like sunshine!"

Max could hardly believe his eyes. "You... you live in my baseball?"

Zap did a little spin in the air. "I live wherever lightning goes! But your orange ball is special. It's different from all the boring white ones. Different things call different magic!"

Suddenly, Zap had an idea. "Want to play baseball in the clouds?"

When Max woke up in his bed the next morning, the orange baseball sat on his nightstand, glowing faintly. Had it been a dream? Max smiled, touching the ball's warm surface. He knew the truth.
