The Bear With Magic Hair

Lily loved her teddy bear Barnaby. He had soft brown fur and one crooked ear. But Barnaby had a secret - at night, when the moon shone through her window, he came alive!

One evening, as Lily slept, Barnaby stretched his fuzzy paws. His bear fur sparkled like stars. He was hungry for adventure!

Padding downstairs on velvet feet, Barnaby found the kitchen. His stomach rumbled like distant thunder. Just then, a drop of water fell from the leaky faucet. It splashed onto his paw and - GLOW! - Barnaby's hair began to grow!

Long, curly, rainbow-colored hair flowed from his bear head. It tumbled across the floor, up the table legs, and wrapped around the cookie jar. The hair pulled the lid right off!

But Barnaby wasn't the only one awake. Down the hall, Lily's brother Tommy walked in, his eyes half-closed. His hair stood straight up like he'd been electrified. His arms stuck out stiff.

"It's a zombie!" Barnaby thought, trembling. He'd heard scary stories about creatures that walked funny.

Tommy yawned. "I'm just sleepwalking to the bathroom," he mumbled.

Barnaby relaxed. Not a zombie at all!

The magical hair on Barnaby's head sensed Tommy's sleepiness. It reached out gently and tucked Tommy back into bed, covering him like a warm blanket. Tommy smiled in his sleep.

By morning, Barnaby's magic hair had disappeared. He was just a regular stuffed bear again. Lily hugged him tight, never knowing her faithful friend had the most magical hair in the world.

And somewhere in that house, a bear with a secret waited patiently for moonlight to fall once more.
