The Bear Who Threw Starballs
Benny loved his **baseball** more than anything in the world. Every day after school, he'd practice pitching in his backyard, wearing his lucky blue **hat** that his grandmother had given him.
One afternoon, Benny's best throw sailed over the fence and into the mysterious forest behind his house. He climbed through the bushes, following the path of his ball, until he reached a clearing he'd never seen before.
There, sitting beside a sparkling pond, was the biggest brown **bear** Benny had ever imagined. But this bear wasn't scary — he was wearing a catcher's mitt and holding Benny's baseball!
"You throw like a shooting star," the bear rumbled kindly. "I'm Barnaby. Would you like to play?"
Benny's eyes widened. "You can talk? And you know baseball?"
Barnaby laughed, a warm sound like honey pouring. "Where I come from, bears don't just honey. We play games with the **water** sprites. But today, I wanted a real game."
They played until sunset, the bear throwing magical pitches that turned into butterflies before reaching Benny's bat. When an **orange** butterfly landed on Benny's nose, he giggled so hard he dropped his bat.
"It's time to go home," Barnaby said, his voice serious. "But remember this: the magic isn't in the ball or the bat. It's in playing with friends."
He handed Benny a special baseball that glowed like fireflies. "Whenever you feel lonely, throw this ball toward the forest. I'll hear it, and I'll come play."
Benny walked home, his heart full of wonder. His **hat** seemed to sparkle, his **baseball** felt magical, and he knew that somewhere in the forest, a **bear** friend would always be ready for another game.
That night, Benny placed the glowing ball on his nightstand. He'd learned that the best adventures come from friendship, not just from finding things — and that sometimes, the most magical friends are the ones you least expect.
Especially if they're bears who love baseball.
